Cummins basketball
THE Cummins and Districts Basketball Association 2007/2008 season grand finals for seniors and intermediate teams were held on March 13.
The junior shield was awarded to the Blue team for most wins, the intermediate mixed competition went to Caro Meyers/Stacey Smith’s Yellow team in a thrilling and tightly fought contest, with best on court for this final going to Jack Haarsma.
Intermediate girls best and fairest went to Amesha Meyers, runner-up was Kelly Smith, who also earned herself the highest point scorer for the season.
Intermediate boys best and fairest was awarded to Brad Ridgway with Billy Pilgrim earning the runner-up and highest point scorer trophies.
Incentive winners for the intermediates went to George Treloar, Sam Guidera and Kane Millard for the boys, while sisters Nakita and Shakira Bache were the girls winners.
The senior men’s final was between Michael Meaney’s Blue team and Anthony Doyle’s Yellow team.
Blue were victors with Michael Meaney awarded best on court in the final.
Best and fairest for the senior men for the season was Anthony Doyle, while Terry Boyce was runner-up and highest point scorer for the year.
President Leonie Darling thanked all sponsors for the 2007/2008 season, junior and intermediate coaches and the committee for its hard work in making the year another successful one.
Thanks also to Ian Beeby and his band of umpires for being willing and available for the finals each year.
