Walk to help raise funds

15/05/2008 1:25:00 PM
A MIXTURE of paws and feet will be running along the foreshore when Port Lincoln canines and their owners participate in this Sunday’s Million Paws Walk.

The Million Paws Walk is an annual event that helps raise money for ongoing costs at the local RSPCA shelter.

Last year about 160 people and their dogs participated in the walk, raising $2000.

RSPCA Port Lincoln branch secretary Kerry Jones is urging as many people as possible to take part in this year’s event, which promises to be a fun-filled day.

The walk will start at the Port Lincoln foreshore, next to the yacht club this Sunday, with registration at 10am and the walk starting at 10.30am.

People can walk either two kilometres or five kilometres, and all dogs must be on a leash.

Afterwards, a barbecue will be held from 11am, with doggie games to entertain the canine friends.

Entry donation is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 16, $8 concession and $25 for a family (two adults, two children).
